A little about Laurie

Laurie Fisher, M.S.W., is a Clinical Social Worker registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (Reg. #1378, Clinical Reg. #01214). She has been in clinical practice since 1994, doing general mental health counselling and psychotherapy with adults, relationship and couple counselling, and extensive mental health counselling with Indigenous people, including work with survivors from the Indian Residential Schools. Since 2007 Laurie has moved increasingly into learning about and working with trauma, including developmental and attachment trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, whether from single incident or multiple traumas. This includes working with First Responders, especially Emergency Medical Personnel.
Laurie has facilitated numerous workshops on various subjects, including effective communication skills, assertiveness, stress and anger management, conflict management, and healthy relationships. In fact, Laurie’s initial practice, Wellness for Women, was designed specifically to provide information on various women’s issues through workshops and groups.
Laurie is also an ACSW Approved Clinical Supervisor.
On a more personal note, Laurie has a passion for animals and nature which form the subjects of her other passion for photography. She has also been involved as a volunteer on the Board of Directors, in various executive positions, for the Grande Prairie & District S.P.C.A. since 2000.
